Wicker sculpture trail

In order to preserve tradition and cultivate our wickerwork craft, the idea was put forward to decorate the centre of our town with wicker sculptures. The first of these was created in 2001. There are now more than 20 of them in the public space, designed by local and foreign artists and made by local plaiting masters. A wicker dragon, dancing Eurydice, birds, a wicker hedgehog, an ant, pouffes, rocking chairs, tables or other furniture made in very fanciful shapes look interesting and original. It is worthwhile to follow this original trail of wicker sculptures, which begins at the market in Rudnik, by the monument to Count Ferdinand Hompesch – creator of Rudnik’s basketry. Wicker sculptures can be found in the vicinity of the green area, near the mill, as well as in the courtyard of the Wicker Centre.

On the GREEN VELO route

The Green Velo trail is more than 2, 000 kilometres of perfectly prepared infrastructure stretching along the eastern border of Poland, from Podkarpacie to Mazury region. The trail runs through more than 12 regions, and within them over 150 local sections have been marked out, ideal for bicycle trips, Rudnik included. Flat, but varied in terms of nature and landscape, picturesque routes on the San River, stretching among wicker crops is a great and safe alternative to spend your holiday.

If you want to cover the entire route in the vicinity of our town, it starts in Racławice near Nisko in Podkarpacie and ends in Bojanowo. The entire route is about 115km long and is not demanding, as there are no steep climbs. On the way you will find plenty of picturesque views, beautiful monuments and one of the stops will be Rudnik nad Sanem. You can then continue to Ulanów, which is only 6 km from Rudnik nad Sanem. There are two wonderful places that can be combined into one trip connecting the Polish capital of wickerwork(Rudnik nad Sanem) and the Polish capital of rafting (Ulanów).
